Your child’s mind will be fed and watered. They will be encouraged to develop an awareness of phonics and will be introduced to early stage key vocabulary in order to build early reading success. If he or she is ready they will be encouraged to begin simple reading. Your child will tackle letter and word formation, and will start to write confidently, initially just his or her name, but more over time.
Your child will develop mathematical skills and understanding in a practical and informal way, thus laying down the stepping stones to later achievement. Knowledge and understanding of the world will be stimulated at school by growing plants in the garden, nature walks, and an exciting pattern of visitors – such as the snakes and reptiles recently.
Your child’s imagination will be stretched through creativity and construction. Through drama. Concerts, painting, modelling, dressing up, movement, games, singing and music children will explore their inner selves, the world around them, and their reactions to it.
